The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
